Wiki for classroom lab check out

Please be diligent in meeting expections:

  • Check out responsibly:  Honor regularly scheduled classes and check out only for the periods needed; pick up and return the lab from the hosting classroom with reasonable punctuality; IF your schedule changes and you've signed up for a lab, but don't need it - please remember to go back and delete your booking.
  • Assign individual computers to students in each of your classes to allow for easy follow-up if problems arise.  Note:  Computers on each lab are identified by color and #1-25.  Click here for a form to record student computer assignments, click here.
  • If during use, problems are encountered (can't print, problems hitting the network, etc) - please be sure to note problems on the computer AND inform the host of the lab.
  • Closely monitor students as they use computers.  Network violations will be enforced and problems could lead to limited access to labs.
  • Avoid parceling out the lab; please assume the lab stays together as a unit with all 25 computers at all times (Example:  Don't ask to take only 5 computers - eventually this practice leads to problems).
  • When done using, computers need to be returned to the cart in numerical order and must be plugged in.

Responsibilities of teachers hosting mobile labs:

  • Willingness to hold all users accountable for expectations (Example:  You may have to confront your colleague about problems with use in his/her classroom)
  • Basic troubleshooting (Example:  If users report a computer won't shut down, you'll investigate and contact technology staff as needed)
  • Inventory:  You'll consistently ensure all computers are accounted for
  • Aid with scheduling
  • Securing the lab.  You'll lock the lab and your classroom appropriately - particularly over weekends and holidays.
